Making a Lasting Impact for Ronald McDonald House of Amarillo

Since 1983, the Ronald McDonald House of Amarillo has provided more than 80,000 free nights of lodging and support to families with children receiving medical care. Serving families from rural communities in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and beyond, the House offers 12 guest suites and home-like amenities for pediatric patients (ages 0–21) and their families, regardless of diagnosis, with a healthcare referral.

All services—including meals, transportation, and laundry—are free thanks to donors and volunteers. The Ronald McDonald Family Room at Northwest Texas Healthcare System provides additional in-hospital support and programs like “Gifts from the Heart.” Families are also connected to community resources during and after their stay.

Amarillo was the 49th Ronald McDonald House worldwide; now, there are nearly 400 chapters. Each operates independently and relies on local fundraising. Community members can support by volunteering, donating, or sponsoring programs. 100 Women Who Care in the Texas Panhandle donated $18,100 to the Ronald McDonald House of Amarillo, contributing to the purchase of a new minivan for delivering gifts, transporting families, and expanding outreach in 2026.

Through their collective efforts, the women of 100 Women Who Care highlight the power of unified giving to create positive change in the community.
